The Manitoba Arts Network is thrilled to announce that we have received funding from the Canadian Heritage Support for Workers in Live Arts and Music Sectors Fund to execute new programming – 40 live concerts, engaging up to 13 different artists/bands! We will bring diverse, inclusive, and accessible live events to 30 Indigenous communities and 10 member communities. We will be engaging 3 Indigenous artists and an additional 10 artists. The live concerts will be completed before March 30, 2022:
1. 30 live concerts in different MB Indigenous/Metis rural & remote communities. 3 Indigenous MB bands: Eagle & Hawk, Brandi Vezina & Low Budget Rock Star will be engaged to perform 10 shows each. Brandi Vezina and Low Budget Rock Star are alumni from MAN’s Emerging Artist mentorship and Showcase program. These tours are aimed for Fall 2021.
Contact Rhonda Head – Indigenous Programs Coordinator to book a concert.
2. 10 live concerts in member communities. MAN will pay $2000 towards artist fees for each of these live performances. Priority will be given to members who will be hiring marginalized & racialized artists, programming theatre or dance, and to members that have not been awarded monies from the same fund. The funds for this component will be allocated on a case-by-case basis and first come first served. Decisions will be made by the MAN programs committee.
